Best Picture Spring 2018

The winner of the vote for best picture at the spring exhibition is ‘Protecting our future’ by Hayley Walker, a stunning pastel with great detail.

Congratulations to Hayley, who also won the prize for best Craft stall with her display of felted animals and Bears.

It was a great exhibition of our members work with a huge variety of styles and media, we were pleased to hear how difficult our visitors found it to vote for a single winning picture!

Crafts displayed included papercraft, soft craft and clay craft and provided a colourful backdrop to the pictures exhibited.

2017 Demonstrations end on a high

The final demonstration of 2017 was by Julia Beehag, textile artist.

Julia gave a brilliant talk about her journey through textiles to designing her own line of handbags, and then making jewellery from textiles.

The Handbags were beautifully made, and lined with lovely patterned materials; Including Leather in her embellishing and the handles ensured that these were strong and durable. Julia’s love of fabrics shone through her demonstration, as did her joy of textiles.

Julia then talked us through her ideas behind her textile jewellery. More beautiful designs for broaches earrings and necklaces, each having lots of detail with threads and beads making them unique and wearable.

This was a great last Demo for the year, and following the Christmas Party we then head into 2018 with a Watercolour demonstration by Sue Colyer. Join us on the 3rd January for the first meeting of 2018.
